So, I can’t go to Alexeon Brothers eating disorder treatment, because Medicaid apparently doesn’t cover IP. X’s such a shame as we need this treatment. I’m 96 pounds. We only continue to lose weight, no matter what I do. I’m trying, but this just makes me want to give up on recovery. Why does it have to be so hard? I spoke to my care coordinator for my insurance company, and they said that I needed to just keep going to my outpatient dietitian and therapist. Well, my therapist has no experience, and there is only so much a dietitian can do. I don’t feell safe working with my current therapist. Don’t know what to do.

That’s so so awful. I really feel for you. I wish I could tell you something that would be really helpful and constructive, but I guess as long as they won’t give you the help you need, there’s not much you can do, it just sucks no one is there who’d be able and willing to help you and get you the treatment you need.

I’m sorry the insurance company is making this so difficult. xo

I’m sorry you’re struggling so much and insurance isn’t giving you what you need. You might have already tried this and I don’t know if this would help your situation, but when insurance denied covering the intensive outpatient program for my eating disorder, I got my psychiatrist to write a letter outlining the medical necessity of it––and highlighting that treating me was necessary to prevent hospitalization and more severe medical consequences. If there’s one thing insurance hates more than paying for treatment, it’s getting sued, so it might be worth a shot if you haven’t already. Hang in there! I’m keeping you in my thoughts. ❤
